The goal of this course is to provide practical instructions in the design and analysis of non-digital games.

This course offers detailed design and analysis of non-digital games such as conventional board games and card games that can be played on a table in front of someone with cards, pieces, etc. It covers historical context of this genre to compare the design elements of game of chance, card games, and role-playing games. The premise of the class is to master the fundamental principles of successful non-digital games, and understand their foundation of being as interactive systems, and ultimately their socio-cultural perspectives. It offers practical knowledge in the service of designing and analyzing of non-digital games. 

Students design, develop, and thoroughly test their original games to understand the interaction and evolution of game rules.
