Game development is a creative process, which is around more than 45 years. Today, it is a recognizable discipline that requires the ability to innovate and learn within a social context. This makes the discipline more popular where educational programs in game development and design showed a significant growth not only in industry but also in academia.
The field of game studies offers a unique combination of industrial and academic experience that can be found rarely in other domains. Such a combination ensures that these studies fosters several social skills (e.g. collaboration, communication, innovation, etc.) However, there are only a few courses offered at university level that teaches the fundamentals of game design and game thinking. To bridge this gap, a course of game design and development is vitally important to address this discrepancy and ultimately sharpens the analytical and the innovative skills of students.
